another website check-in... inspiration has struck
my final semester at college is coming up and working on a major thesis project to show all my progress is becoming urgent. deadlines are fast approaching and i need to account for print turnarounds and consider my life path after graduation...
totally unrelated, but all of a sudden i got the urge to not just pick up my web coding hobby again... but FINALLY add the pages i've been needing to add and update for a while!
the website's 1 year anniversary passed earlier this month, wow! a lot has changed since then, including my skills. latest updates have mostly been housekeeping, tweaking some wonky layouts and reorganizing files. learning about figma thru school and using that to plan out layout and a palette lowkey has helped a ton with making new pages less overwhelming, so i'll be prepping for a few page plans and gradually executing them alongside all my homework. ;w;
some plans!
- back to making an interests page again. the tabbed layout was a bit messy and it made my about feel more bloated than i woulda liked! i'm also entertaining the thought of making web shrines again, albeit that might be way in the future given they will likely get their own css (vocaloid and fire emblem are the ones i'd like to make shrines for! fe might see its shrine made once i finish all the games, which will happen sooner than later). tabbed layout will be visited again, but with a much more pleasing aesthetic :)
- commissions page!!!! long overdue!! mostly a simple overview of my services, prices, and example work like it was on my original site. i'm not sure how to go about designing it in a way that would be interesting... one thing i took away during my time in my web design class (responsible for me making kandyloid's page + revamping my site in general) is that a lot of modern sites are intentionally designed with responsiveness and as such always look/are laid out the same---very vertical, not too many horizontal element distribution to make mobile coding as straightforward as possible. i love saving time in coding, especially responsive css which i find pretty tedious... but i also now can't unsee how it's affected commercial web design!! so at the risk of making something insane and difficult to wrangle, i do want to aim for a layout that's ambitious and makes use of the intended viewing experience on desktop.
- a page for my vocaloid covers ??!?!?!?! i've probably stated before but i have been sitting on so many vocaloid covers and i'm too lazy to make mvs to post them on youtube (and too stubborn to just reuse the original mvs to post them) so hosting them on my website is a good middle ground to actually get my shit out there. this is another where i don't have a strong idea of where i wanna take the design, especially how i wanna organize the content (not sophisticated enough to implement a search bar or something). lower priority for now....
i have some overdue homework to catch up on first :,(( and commissions i need to address. AUAGAHGHHH!!!! but since this is a hobby project with no deadline, i guess i can't feel too bad for having to put it off. still, excited to return to the website again :D
also, the weekend ahead of me looks to be the BEST EVARRR!!! (despite the horrors) i hope i remember to write a little something about it by the end of the week. lately i've been booked and busy thanks to all the amazing friends i've accrued! i have PLANS! i'm going places!!! YAYYYYY
