working working working! + site thoughts
hi again!! i am writing this while on cloud 9 cuz i have been very fortunate to have a lot of commissions helping me make money during my limited free time as a full-time student :,D so i'm feeling pretty good about myself!
school started up again for me exactly a month ago and things have been pretty swell! i have actually been taking a dedicated web design class so i'm not only getting credits for something i love but i'm also sitting down and properly learning how to do stuff instead of scrappy self-teaching.
and with that, i've been thinking... a lot about my website could use some fixing.
namely, i've been wanting to redo my home page from scratch. as much as i adore the layout, it's the only page made with a template, so for consistency i feel like it's fitting i use my own style, at least to imitate it. but it's hard! pages that aren't a straight shot downwards is hard!
further, probably the most glaring issue that's plagued the site since the beginning is how i don't have a universal stylesheet or consistent color palette. i thought that slight variance between pages would be fun, but now it's a bit annoying... and it essentially gives me more work by having to restyle a new page from scratch. that's partly why the interests page is taking so long.
it's hard, but i think before i can progress further on adding new things to the website, i might have to refresh all of my css across all my pages. i know things like specificity and how to actually use flexboxes (which seemed so mystical but now i'm realizing i rlly gave myself so much more trouble by using grids omg), so... i think it's time for my little project to reflect that.
..eventually. i still have commissions to work on, and file management is extremely overwhelming :-(((((( but i would like to do that at least before my website hits its one year anniversary next feb!
that's all baiiii
